Beehive: The ‘60’s Musical matches big voices with big hairdos. From The Shirelles to Tina Turner, Beehive is a marvellous celebration of the women who led us through the trials and tribulations of the 60’s. The story is told through the lens of six women as they sing their way through over forty of the most iconic songs of this impactful decade. Featuring the music of The Shirelles, Connie Frances, Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin, and Janis Joplin, this non-stop musical rocks around the clock.
WANDA (Mezzo Soprano) – A strong actress as well as singer. She carries a majority of the narration throughout the revue. She is a leader – strong, powerful, and engaging. She must have the ability to confidently interact with the audience and drive the energy in a room. Sing songs “Walking in the Rain,” “Sweet Talkin’ Guy,” “Then He Kissed Me,” and “The Beehive Dance.”
PATTIE (Mezzo Soprano) – Portrays Leslie Gore as well as the lead singer of the Ronettes, Ronnie Spector. Sings the songs “It’s My Party,” “Be My Baby,” “You Don’t Own Me,” “Baby I Love You,” and “I Never Loved a Man.”
ALISON (Alto) – Portrays Connie Francis as well as the lead singer of The Angels, Peggy Santiglia. Sings the songs “My Boyfriend’s Back,” “You Can’t Hurry Love,” and “Where The Boys Are.”
LAURA (Soprano) – Portrays Janis Joplin as well as the lead singer of the Shirelles, Shirley Alston Reeves. Sings the songs “I’ll Never Change Him,” “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow,” “To Sir With Love,” Somebody To Love,” and “Try (Just A Little Bit Harder)/Bobby McGee.”
JASMINE (Mezzo Soprano) – Portrays Diana Ross of the Supremes as well as the lead singer of the Chiffons, Judy Craig. Sings the songs “One Fine Day,” “You Can’t Hurry Love,” “Academy Award,” and “Abraham, Martin and John.”
GINA (Mezzo Soprano) – Portrays Tina Turner and Aretha Franklin. Sings the Songs “I Sold My Heart to a Junkman,” “River Deep, Mountain High,” “Proud Mary,” and “Natural Woman.”
