OPENING NOV 8, 2012…..

Shooting Star

By Steven Dietz, directed by Darlene Manchester

Starring Cameron McDonald and Pam Jones

 Nov 8-24, 2012,  Weds-Sat at 8PM

Snowed in overnight at a middle-America airport, college lovers Elena Carson and Reed McAllister have an unexpected and life-altering reunion.
Elena has stayed true to her hippie-ish, counter-culture path, while Reed has gone predictably corporate and conservative. As the night gives way to laughter, banter, remembrance and alcohol, Elena and Reed revisit a past that holds more surprises than they imagined—and a present that neither of them could have predicted.
Filled with laughter and ache, SHOOTING STAR is a bittersweet romantic comedy about the middle days of our lives, and how we got there.

Sept. 5th – 8th, 2012

Seventeen years ago First Impressions Theatre, under the direction and brilliance of Jim Hebb, put together a concert. Hearing rehearsals from the Deep Cove Cultural Centre, word spread quickly through the Cove that this was going to be something to see. And it was. All shows immediately sold out. It was remounted shortly after and sold out again, it was then picked up for the opening of the new Studio Theatre at the Shadbolt Centre of the Arts in Burnaby.

Over the years people have remembered the electricity of that concert, and hoped for its return. Well, hope no more, the whole group is back together, and hotter than ever. They will be performing in the Deep Cove Shaw Theatre, four nights only, Wednesday through Saturday, September 5 to 8; all performances are at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are already selling fast at only $20 each.

Don’t miss this opportunity to see these fabulous singers — Cheryl Hebb, Leigh Richards, Sheila Sharma and Gail Trainer along with smokin’ hot musicians Jim Hebb, Carl Craig, Ed Fabian, Steve Taillefer, Jon Lundquist and Skip Parker.

The House Of Blue Leaves

The House Of Blue Leaves

By John Guare

Directed by Rick Colhoun

Oct. 4, 1965, the day the Pope Paul VI visits New York City, and Artie Shaughnessy, a zoo keeper and would-be songwriter, his schizoid wife Bananas, and his less than logical mistress Bunny, live in Queens. Artie and Bunny are planning a visit to see his old school buddy who has become a successful Hollywood producer, hoping he will finally get the song writing success he has been craving. But something needs to be done about Bananas…..

Throw in the attention-seeking son gone AWOL from the Army, farcical nuns, a deficient starlet, a home-made bomb and you have quite a zoo; but then, wait, there are troubles at the real zoo too!

The House of Blue Leaves is a most unusual play featuring abundant comedy, intense drama, moments of pure farce, some tragedy and heartfelt tenderness all with an underlying social commentary.

The House of Blue Leaves was the recipient of four Tony Awards and the New York Drama Critics Circle Award

Featuring Ryan Crocker, Colleen Rae Lornie, Cheryl Hebb, Cody Blatter, Tina Spencer, Ann Copp, Brianna Mason, Victoria Deschanel, Chris Liggett, Kelly Avery and Alan Williams.
